Buckling or Flowerpot Anti-Shock Mounting |
|
Features |
The ‘Flowerpot’ anti-shock mounting features a large rubber section with robust metal parts at the top and bottom. Despite it’s small size it can deflect to 1/20th of it’s unloaded height. There are two sizes, 17-0998 for loads up to 90kG, or 17-0581 for loads up to 130kG for 55 Shore hardness versions. |
The 17-0998 can deflect to 60mm, and the 17-0581 can deflect up to 100mm under shock in all directions. The mountings provide a static deflection of around 6mm, which helps to ensure that small impacts are well controlled. This equates to a nominal natural frequency of approximately 6.5Hz in the vertical direction. |
The main features are: |
• Natural Rubber compound is used as standard but can be made in high damping rubber for reduced shock responses. |
• Magnification at resonance, or ‘Q’ factors, range from 18 to 13 for Natural rubber, and 6 to 4 for high damping rubber. |
• Temperature range from -40°C to +80°C for natural rubber versions |
• Metal parts are made from Mild Steel, and are protected by paint finish to resist corrosion to ASTM B-117. |
• Weight is 1.5kg for 17-0998, and 2.3kG for 17-0581 |

Metalastik® ‘Buckling’ or ‘Flowerpot’ Anti-Shock Mounting |
For the protection of sensitive equipment from shock and vibration. These mountings are suitable for use in vehicles and on board ship, and for the transportation of ordnance by road, rail, sea and air. Another popular application has been for structure protection for vibratory hoppers, where the hopper has material dropped from a height, and is vibrated in order to loosen the material. |
Applications |
• Transportation protection – flat and edge/corner drops |
• Seismic protection |
• Military shock and vibration protection standards |
• Instrumentation |
• Control Panels |
• Vibratory hoppers and feeders |
• Structure protection |
